Conversations for Suicide Safer Homes

This session introduces the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and explores the role public health professionals play in suicide prevention through awareness, conversation, and safe practices. Participants learn when and how to use 988, how to talk about suicide in clear, compassionate, and stigma-reducing ways, and how safe firearm storage can reduce risk and save lives. Because this topic can be emotionally heavy, the session is designed to be approached with compassionate caution.

Teams are encouraged to watch the video in segments, pausing as needed for discussion, reflection, or grounding. Guided prompts invite participants to check in with themselves, discuss reactions, and practice how to share resources or respond to concerns in a supportive way. Creating space for conversation and pacing the session thoughtfully helps ensure the material is engaging, respectful, and emotionally safe for everyone involved.
